some vivarium questions!

My first post here

We have a hog and we have another coming at the weekend.

We also have 2 new custom vivariums with extra vents coming that are both (inches) 40x20x20.

I just wanted to check two things.

I am currently planning on fitting a heat mat with a thermostat in both vivariums to ensure a nice tempreture for the hogs.

In my Leo vivs where I have done this I always place the heat mat, then over the top I install self adheisive vynal tiles. Once the floor of the vivarium is covered with the tiles I use a small amout of aquarium sealant arround the edges to seal it in.

I was wondering if there was any reason why I shuold not do this with a hoggy vivarium?

My other question is I plan on installing the thermostat probe with a tempreture probe at the same point, near the mat. Is the hog likely to chew on the probes? if so how do you get around the placement problem?

the vinyl tiles sealed with aquarium sealant should be fine. you want to place the probe where its out of hogs reach as some do like to chew things like that. You need to ensure you have an ambient temp of 20-24c rather than a "hot" area and "cool" area like with rep's.
