How to successfully apply Fablon? xD

right, ive pretty much mastered the art of fablon-ing stuff!

1) You need two people, i enlisted the help of my mum.
2) Cut the fablon to a size just larger than the area that needs covering- i left an inch-ish around the edge (like you would with wallpaper)
3) Peel approx 3/4 inches back on one end
4) Whilst one person lines up the first edge, the other needs to hold the rest of the piece up out of the way
5) Person one smooths fablon down (i used a plastic ruler to smooth out bubbles) Whilst person two slowly (a couple of inches at a time) peels the backing off
6) Go very slowly and if a crease or large bubble appears, stop and peel back off to just before the crease/bubble, and start smoothing from that point again
7) Once the fablon is in place and has been smoothed down so its well stuck, use a stanley knife/blade to trim the excess off round the edges (use a straight edge pushed up against the edge to ensure you get a straight line)

TIP: Dont try sticking fablon to chipboard type wood, it doesnt stick

I found smoothing it down with a teatowel works better than something harder like a ruler. Although having said that, I've still got loads to go so I might regreat my choice in a couple of days
