Post  melly81 on August 10th 2010, 11:34 am

Hi last night i offered Alfie some dried mealworms and he was'nt at all interested so i put some strawberries with them for the night and i went to check this morning he had'nt eaten either of them,
he is eating his cat biscuits really well but i have read that meal worms are important to their diet i don't really know wat to do so could i have some advice please? unsure

some hedgehogs wont accept fruit and veg but on the mealworm side of things you could try live mealworms and feeding with tongs if your hog would accept that, i alway feed mine live but i do have one that doesnt accept them just yet but it doesnt stop me trying lol, you could also give your hog a lil supplement of nutrobal 2x a week but only a sprinkle so your hog is getting all the goodness it needs, i hope that helps a little love ema

I've had the same problem. Honkers hates dried mealworms...he bit one by accident last night and then spat it out. However he loves the live ones (although he goes for the thongs rather than the worms in the vague hope that there's a wriggly thing on the end...silly boy!). You get used to them and I've just put mine in a really high sided container so they have no chance of escaping!! It's also a good way to give your hoggie veggies and you feed them to the mealies, not the hog. big smile
