pet insurance? vet costs?
Hello,
I'm due to get my hoggie in 5 weeks, looking about for vets. Can you get insurance for hedgehogs? do they need jags or anything?I've not read anything that says it does but I need to be sure I'm doing the right thing. I'm currently emailing places in glasgow to see who knows how to treat APH's...fingers crossed.
Much appreciated for any advice...I'm new at this but I think this forum is gona be a life saver

ok will do the same thanks....it would seem from all the insurance companies and vets you can have a cat or dog but nothing else...boring!

I did find an insurance company bit it was going to be over £200 for the year.
So I have set up a savings funds in case we need to go to the vet but fingers crossed we never do.
I put about £20 in per month which was partially calculated on what a monthly payment would of been to an insurers.

Exotics direct would probably insure a hog, but I looked into it for my gecko and thought it was prohibitively high.... think they're maybe catering more for large collections or zoo-type establishments, but I haven't looked at it for the hog, so you could try and see? Otherwise stick with the sticking money aside trick, as per suggestions above!
