Meat

Post  Drumm on September 3rd 2010, 1:22 pm

When I cook meat for my hedgie, how should it be cooked?

The lady who had him before used to give him the odd bit of her roast chicken, but I heard it should be boiled. Is that right? I have never boiled meat before!

thanks!

I know you mustnt add any salt etc to the meat.

I usually boil mine in water on the hob.. I also like to defrost the meat before I boil (if its been frozen) cos I find you get that white freezer stuff in the water if you dont, but thats just my preference.

I also break the meat up into smaller chunks so it cooks quicker and less chance of messing up and not cooking all through :p

^^^ I do as angriesthedgehog does

you can dry fry or grill also. Roast chicken is fine if you have cooked one and its not the skin or anything and just take a bit off for hoggie whilst yueat the rest!

I fry my mince and roast some chicken legs. Both get chopped into ickle hog sized bits! It took four weeks before she would eat the chicken though.

I've been using pre-cooked chicken in packages and slicing it up to mix with veg and fruit. Is that bad? sad

Phew! I was panicking! I made him a special dinner tonight of chicken, carrots, celery, blueberries and cat biscuits. So I was gonna be so annoyed at myself if I had to remove the teeny chicken chunks. lau

I've used pre-packed meat before as an "Oh my god I've got no meat for his tea" scenario! not overly keen on it but the choice between that or nothing! appealed me thinks Rolling Eyes
