Has anyone converted regular depth bookshelves into a multistorey hedgehog house?
I just wondered if anyone has done this with any success? Or whether it would be a viable option? I have a 3 shelf bookcase going to waste in the garage, and just as i was about to get wood cut to make my viv my OH pointed this out. It is only 11'' deep and 30'' wide, but has three shelves so wondered if it would be a viable option if i made it a 2 or 3 level house with ramps (obviously I would make balconys to fit the ramp etc.
Many thanks!
Many thanks!

If you were to make it 2/3 levels I cannot see why this is a problem although you would need to check whether it was wide enough to fit a litter tray containing a 12" running wheel in.
My hoggies at the mo are living in a converted wardrobe unit from ikea - converting is my favourite

Hmmm not really - took a lonnnng time and tonnes of brain-power and even now it's still wonky in places and gappy in others
My lot don't seem to mind though
Are you wanting to have a go yourself?
Or would you consider buying a hand-made viv?
If so, I can reccommend Hedgebottom's (on here) viv's - I had two before I got more hoggies and they are SO SO sturdy and well made. Once I get some money in, I wouldn't mind changing back actually

I didn't realize Hedgebottom made viv's too..... talk about multi-tasking!!!! I just want to get the best housing possible for a reasonable price, which is why i had planned on making my own. I suspect that it will cost me almost as much and not look as good though!!!

i would def check the depth of it, to check its wide enough for things to fit in, house, litter tray, wheel etc. also bare in mind that the ramps also take room height wise too.
i have converted a computer cabinet into a 3 storey cage took me a while to get there but tilly loves it. didnt cost much neither.
