Questions before getting my tenrec!!

Hi guys
I'm lucky enough to be getting a tenrec tomorrow and there were a couple of questions i have!!
Do you guys use wheels or is the bark I have placed around the setup enough??
Also do they use a litter tray like aph or not??
One last thing! Will I be able wake my tenrec to handle or wait til he wakes??

Hope you guys don't mind answering these as I have been researching and can't find answers to these questions!!

its been said that a wheel is not needed but i have a flying saucer (i wont use these for the hogs but they seem great for welly not as heavy for him to run on) and he loves it! i havent put a litter tray in so i cant really help with that but he doesnt just go on the wheel he goes wherever he wants so i doubt they could be litter trained.
also i wake welly up to handle and he is fine with that, just pulls a funny face at me at first.

Thanks! I bought a flying saucer so pleased that he can use it! Hurray! I haven't put in a litter tray so I won't bother! Lol! Also I have read to leave their red light on 24/7 do you use this for your heat source also??
I'm super excited just wish I could get as much info as I could with my aph's!!

hmm no i dont have a light as heat, i have a radiator heater right by his cage but that is getting replaced with a CHE asap.

Sorry to interrupt the thread guys, just wondering pammie, how come you're replacing your heater?
This is what I use for my guys and I'm just curious as it's not any reason of them setting on fire or anything?... VERY concerned about heat since that poor guy on here had bad luck with his heat-pad

no no nothing like that, just the one im using is a small oil type radiator heater thing and i dont think its giving enough heat for him as he is sleeping right up against the door as close as he can get to the heater. i know what you mean about worrying i have a heat mat for holly and i keep unplugging it as it feels so hot.

Ahhh phew! Okay thanks for that! That's settled me a bit, panicked then as I'm at my Mum's too for the night and the heater is left on at my house!! We are worry warts aren't we?

Mine loves wheels but she did not like her flying saucer, she also has a litter tray that suprisingly she DOES use she picked the corner tho and I just put it in there. I also mostly wake her up and she is fine, she will even sometimes go back to sleep in my hand. Congrats, their sooo rewarding I love her with all my heart!!

I know what you mean about lack of info, though, in a way its good though because it means they wont be over popular..or arent yet, like many other animals who always end up in re homing centers because they were just that one off thing then got boring...:(

Oh and I also have no lights for mine, shes fine Iv been told by various people to stick UV and red light etc in there, but their naturally nocturnal right, so why put UV or anything in if in the wild they would not have that and get sufficient UV in the wild :
