chinchilla sand problem with boys?

Post  Mindy on January 4th 2011, 8:17 pm

Dave appears to have chinchilla sand stuck in his winky. this is the second time it's happened. Has any one else experienced this? I think I might have to go back to using kitchen roll. :s

it's weird. I got him out and checked him and noticed it. I was giving him a hug for about 20-30 minutes and was about to clean him but I checked again and the sand had gone! It was really weird. It must have just dropped off when he was running on me. I'm going to keep an eye on it though.

I use finacard paper based cat litter (the grey stuff). I used sand for a short while but found it got everwhere.

It is rather messy. lol. Does finacard absorb smells as I find the sand is quite good with this.

I'm a newbie owner with a boy and so many people talk about chinchilla sand being great but not read much about it causing an issue for boys bits, but the breeder warned me about it... I seem to be getting conflicting advice..... hog
