not all of them are ,
granted the ones that are 45deg cut corners & just using the laminated finish to hold everything together & use hardboard as a back panel are pretty rubbish
but i have a shop bought corner viv thats probably stronger than any piece of furniture i own

I think its just the place prob, and how their screwed together. The shop near mine doesnt do flatpack, their all ex display...so they have all been put together QUICKLY and left like that, hence why their prob a bit wobbly in first place.

Re: DIY viv project.

Post  marmot on February 3rd 2011, 4:06 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the design process of creating a two tier viv for my little hog and wondered if you could give me some advice...

For the inside of the viv I was thinking about getting a tailor made smooth plastic/acrylic type tray to fit into the bottom of the wooden shell of the viv and another triangular cut of clear acrylic to attach to the side of the ramp so he doesnt fall off. What is the best material to make the ramp out of though? I really wanted to avoid exposed wooden surfaces as I thought it would be more hygenic to clean up his messes (no chance of this one becoming litter trained!) from a smooth surface that doesnt absorb but I'm thinking this might be too slippy for him to walk up. I'll ofcourse cover any plastic surfaces with some fleecey blankets, newspaper, chippings etc to make it more comfy for him.

Another idea I had was having a kind of trench built into one of the trays to be filled with soil or something so he can have a dig about.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
