chinchilla sand heart attack

I nearly had a heart attack today! I am paranoid about mites and when I took Neo today his quills where covered from head to tail in white dots!! I went pale and sweaty and hibernated and when my Hubby asked whats wrong I nearly cried and said Neo is covered in mites and I have not noticed before and how could I let this happened, he is suffering now... my darling husband just looked at me and said its the chinchilla sand...
when I was not in the room Neo got up, had some worms, went to toilet - he is now litter train and does have sand in it- and my Hubby saw him rolling in the sand... it must be the oil I put on him yesterday that got the sand stuck...OMG that was close... I already saw the light on the end of the tunnel !!!

by the way I found a good chinchilla sand supplier, we got 30 kg of sand for 30 pounds ish...
