also I wouldnt worry about her not eating the wet cat food - its only meant for a rare treat at best anyway and I wouldnt worry if she doesnt eat it at all

Re: Not eating cat (wet) food
I would never feed my hogs wet cat food, really bad nutritionally.
Biscuits are great, I'd supplement with some boiled chicken/mince

Re: Not eating cat (wet) food
Bodhi had wet cat food today and yesterday, quail and chicken, which is the first time she's eaten puree'd anything (or wet cat food). As a treat, there is absolutely no harm in offering wet cat food as a novel item - but that is the point, it is a novel item. I have three more cans of wet food, and she'll likely get one once every 6 months. She gets fresh food everyday anyway, and as long as you select sensible wet food, there is little harm.
Obviously some wet food is god-awful. I tried a packet of applaws (and have another packet to go), which is basically just chicken and water (one was chicken and ostrich, the other is chicken and rice). It smells naaaasty! And Bodhi didn't go anywhere near it.
But my tins, that I have, I bought in the USA. Their cat food (of the higher priced variety) in generally is thousands of times better in quality, ingredients, and nutrition. Obviously their cheap cat food is about the same as our cheap cat food (go cat, whiskers, etc), but their top level stuff is far better than the top level stuff you can get in the UK.
But yes, generally speaking, chicken/mince is far better. But once in a while, novelty is good. If nothing else, it is enriching

Re: Not eating cat (wet) food
Ive been having this same issue, I've tried a couple now and Harry refuses to eat it, so I wont give him it any more.
I think i'll try a little bit of chicken. Obviously cooking a chicken for a single hog is a bit of a pain, and in iceland they have frozen strips of ready cooked chicken breast. Would this be ok if it was defrosted in the microwave do you think? I might mix it with some peas or something :-)

I don't bother with cooked chicken myself, but I can't see an issue with microwaving frozen chicken (as long as there are no additives).

Ingredients are:
Cooked chicken breast fillet (98%), Salt, Stabiliser: Triphosphates.
Salt content says 1g per 100g sold. I'll do a bit more research first on the third ingredient, but I think the salt content is OK as long as its tiny amounts very infrequently as a treat.

I use the Iceland cooked frozen chicken breast strips rather than cooking a chicken for the hogs. They love it

I have terrible trouble getting my hogs to eat new things. They only eat their kibble and mealworms, they refuse to try anything else including chicken and mince. I tried some wet cat food to try and get a bit of variety in and nope, gave it a lick and ignored it :/

Me too! I've even tried dinks chicken soup, although i did sneak some broccoli and carrot into it. They sniffed and had a nibble that was it. The only other thing Harry will eat is strawberries, but he has one bite then foams all over the place!!

Perhaps put some meal worms with the food you are feeding her. Brambles does not eat fruit, but when I put some meal worms in the mashed banana she had it finished really fast. Same thing when I gave her mince meat for the first time, she did not eat it till there were some meal worms in it. Now she eats it without the worms.
