Pregnant Tenrec
I have two trios of tenrecs and whilst one was cooled down for the winter the other group was kept warm as at the time Madame Cholet was with them and she was too small to go into semi-hibernation.
Orinocho didn't stick to the rules and squeaking noises have been heard for a few weeks - been checking on the girls and Lily by our guess, is definately showing signs of being pregnant - either that or she has been eating too much food!
Just to be on the safe side, as this will be hopefully, my first litter, I have set Lily up in her nursery home today - she loves her hollow cork bark tube so we have moved this into her new temporary home and also set up a private area towards the back so she can have a choice of where to rear her babies.
My other trio have only just started to squeak last week so keeping an eye out of these as well.
Something positive to end a crappy week and especially as I won £5 on the thunderball and £85 on the lottery last night

Re: Pregnant Tenrec
Wait till they get in full squeaking mode - sounds like they are killing each other! It lasts for ages and ages as well - Orinocho looks like he has been hit in the eyes several times they are that puffy and the milky eye thing is seriously weird - just my luck that she has been eating too many mealworm pies!

Re: Pregnant Tenrec
Looks like one of the female tenrecs in my other trio is now pregnant - noticed she was rather rotund and after having a good peek, have noticed teets - slightly skinnier ones that the APH but they are definately there and I have never seen them before - fingers crossed

Re: Pregnant Tenrec
Can't wait to be honest, these will be my first litters, I will be moving the pregnant female into another nursery set up, Lily is right at home in hers and is pottering about - I think the full dish of food to herself helps as well!
Baby Tenrec photos - will probably overload with them!
Hopefully will have some babies to fetch to the show in July.
Really excited but on tenterhooks as well - good learing experience though
