losing quills....

Post  angriesthedgehog on July 6th 2011, 9:51 pm

today I noticed a "thinning" of the quills on Sheldon's back - all my hogs have been mite treated after I found some on one hog - I never found any on any other hogs but have treated all (I have not completed the treatment yet)

He has not been scratching at all and his skin is a little dry (you can see a little flaking) but much better now compared to before as he had a right nightmare thru quilling

not sure what could cause this? Oh the quills all have the "ball" bit attached and are not broken off :/

yeah he's been treated for mites and ive never seen him scratching, he does sometimes have dry skin tho. I wondered if the lighter coloured hogs just had less quills generally (thicker? thats why beanies/snowflakes/pintos have a tough time quilling?) and you can just see it more on that part of the back? Ive prob just made that up tho lol! I'l try and get a pic later.

Don't they all appear a little "bald" in the rumpy area when they are curled up?
