fly mesh issue/ gaping hole in nice new viv set up & banner issues!

ok so i have a couple of queries. last night snowball, my male hedgie.. decided he was going to get out of his viv by scratching the hell out of the fly mesh that some of you may know, ive only just added to my new set up!! so now one of the doors has a massive crater of a hole in it but i dont know how to fix it or whether there is any point if he knows he can get out that way. I thought this is what everyone uses hence why i bought it, has anyone else had this problem? can any one recommend something more sturdier so he cant rip it?

also, as you may have noticed.. ive just sorted out a nice new banner. .but its a tad overly large and i would like it smaller.. any one know how to make it smaller or have it in a strip (one next to the other) instead of a cube as its a bit big like this.. would love some one to sort it out for me, i have no idea! lol ! x thanks.. xxx

As for the Fly Mesh thing, that's the 3rd story in the last week that i've heard about a hedgie escaping. Which has pretty much put me off using it altogether unless the hedgehog can't reach it.
To repair it you could try and just "melt" another piece over it. if you cut out approx shape you need and place it over the hole while say melting with the ends with a flame or something like that, it should just fuse with the fibre glass mesh there already (assuming its fibre glass that is lol)

thanks alot dude, its just a cotton type one, same as what faith uses i think.. went through and used the link to the person she used on ebay. ive got some mitre bond stuff that might fix it, it will look pretty rubbish but it will have to do now hes ruined it :( just about to see if my banner thingy works this way.. hold on! X

i prefer it in a line like that but the heart wouldnt sort its self out so it will have to do lol xxx

the only time ive had them chew through the mesh is when theyve been expecting and ive removed the wheel, apart from that ive never had an issue
you can get the same style mesh but its aluminium and 3 times the price but if youve got a problem chewer then its worth the expense

oh thanks faith! can they not climb up that then? im not sure if he chewed it or he got his nails into it and kept clawing away but he was determined. do you have a link to any where that sells it as ill will definately prefer to give that a go rather than keep putting the fly mesh on for him. the others have been fine so far. if they are determined they can climb it but not as well as they would bars.

thanks alot. he is abit of a climber but i will keep an eye on him. the others have all been fine, he frightened me last night as he was rumaging around behind my bed and i hadnt woken up to him scratching at the mesh. That looks pretty good stuff and the price is good for what you get to be honest. disaster over fingers crossed!
