housing set ups

Post  dexnos on August 15th 2011, 9:20 pm

would you mind posting some photos of your set ups please and if an idea of the measurements

Is 48 length
15 high
12 width

sound ok for an initial set up???????

or

http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/reptile-supplies/vivariums-416/vivexotic-arboreal-vivariums--1493/vivexotic-ax24-vivarium-ellmau-beech-47302.html

Exo Terra do you think these are suitable for Tenrecs . I like the extra height e.g 48x and natural ventilation but are unsure about the mesh top although the mesh is as strong as that of a converted aph viv???

any links gratefully accepted big smile

gosh that viv looks huge caz lol
obviously i dont have any so dont really know
kirst has hers in the cage they came in, its like a big tank with doors at the front i think, not massively high but has plenty of logs and things.
i think pammies is in a normal viv with a liner and some branches
karen keeps them too but i dont know what in.
i know col used to have them in vivs.
i think with a viv you would need the metal mesh, i wouldnt trust the normal mesh with whatever heat source your planning to use.
i know ive not been much help and im sure someone will post some pics soon Smile
sorry if ive got anyones set ups wrong lol

Ill hopefully get some pics of mine tomorrow but I have a 3ft x 2ft x 1.5ft viv with orchid bark bedding. I have a boy and he also has a tenreccy musky kinda smell. Mine has loads thick branches, a cork bark tube and a big panel of cork bark at the back with some fake plants. He likes sleeping at the top of the cork bark in the plants Smile I also have a forage box with finacard which I put mealies etc in so he has to dig them out and I chuck in a few locust/crix when he wakes up for him to hunt. There are never any left in the morning lol!

mine have a 36: Vivexotic, they did have a 48" but I was struggling with temps.

I change stuff about for them, but one thing I love is a rock from P@H which they can go in, but I can take the top off to get to them.

They have a rock under the heat lamp which they like to lie on, careful with Mesh as they will climb.

Hardest thing I find is the nails cos they move so fast when you try to cut them..... Also I like to leave mine slightly longer than I would an APH as they look to use them when climbing
