smell

Post  dexnos on August 16th 2011, 12:37 am

From what I have read these guys smell more than APH?

I was initially thinking of having them in the Living room. Is the smell very noticable, e.g visitors coming into the room are they going to be hit with it?

yeah well mine is in a small bedroom so the smell lingers more. its not like a normal smell its smells really musky. i have a very sensitive nose lol so to me i think its horrible i had him in my room for a while but couldnt cope with it so moved him into the spare room. also the smell seems to linger, i use vet bed which you can wash but i find the smell stays on it even after washing. ive been told the boys smell worse than the girls but ive only ever had boys so dont know about that

It is a musky slightly sweet kinda smell - I dont actually find it hugely offensive, especially not compared to the mice lol! but it isnt a pleasant smell - its more just odd?

ant the smell does seem to linger on stuff - all his logs etc smell like tenrec

agree with the lingering musky smell - my girls arent that much better but the male really sitnks when hes primed for breeding - I can tell when hes horny from when i walk in lau otherwise its like a faint musky smell - my new ratties stink more though so its not all that unpleasant I dont find

its a musk like smell, not bad more funny

But on a plus size they require far less cleaning out as they dont seem to be too messy or have smelly poop etc
