What are your hoggie's favourites?
Hello
I am very interested to hear from other hoggie mums and dads what are their hoggie's favourite foods.
My Little Lewie likes most meat (only freshly roasted of course) but I have discovered that he definitately prefers red meat to chicken.
He actually ate a cooked green bean last night too, which I am very pleased about as he won't touch his cauliflour. I love trying him with new things and seeing what he enjoys and it is lovely hearing him chomping on his biccies in the night LOL!
Anyway my little chum is absolutely fine, I don't know how I ever did without him. Besotted is an understatement.
Look forward to hearing about other hedgie likes and dislikes.
Hugs

Re: What are your hoggie's favourites?
mine will pretty much eat any meat and bugs as a favourite
they like egg scrambled in the microwave and no other way which is a bit bizarre and most of mine turn their nose up at fruit and veg preferring only the odd bit of carrot or so - one of my babies recently went to a new home and her new owner messgaed me to tell me she had eaten all the mince and pretty licked the carrots clean but left them untouched which I thought was highly amusing!!

Re: What are your hoggie's favourites?
at licking the carrots clean...The favourite has to be melon... 3 of my hogs love it, and Erin actually prefers it to mealies!!, Erin is a bit of a dustbin and eats everything, only ever having left peas in her dish... the others dont go much on veg, Buttercup only seems to like meat and bikkies, Burdock and Rose and Erin love dried mealies, Buttercup wont touch them!
They all like live mealies and beetles..... Burdock and Erin love egg, hadrboiled, or scrambled, or a little fried if we are having it,
Rose and Burdock likes blueberry... in fact most fruit, its the veg they turn their noses up at!
Erin had raspberry today and spit out the seeds
she also does that with blackberry!

Sonic loves most veg and chicken and mince. I tend to cook it all up and mash it all in together in the month he's been here we have had a clean bowl every night except for when i put tomatoes in.
Tonight he's had roast chicken, parsnip, broccoli and butternut squash basically a roast dinner same as us! lol
oh and some live mealies as an appetiser

Bruce loves any types of insect and butternut squash.
He also loves licking asparagus, but won't actually eat it.
I am strugling with him atm though as he is not eating as much as I would like. He turns his nose up at cooked meat (may have a tiny nibble on chicken but will look extremely un-impressed)

Gregory loves his veg, especially peas, broccoli and carrots. Also loves his mince, He likes chicken but doesn't tend to eat all of it compared to wolfing down the mince. Have been offering mealworms but doesn't tend to get very excited overthem, will eat a couple sometimes, other times won't touch them.

Re: What are your hoggie's favourites?
Thank you all so much for your kind and friendly replies.
As I thought, tastes vary a lot and it is lovely to hear about other hedgies' appetites.
I did a a little scrambled egg for Lewie but he didn;t like it and butternut squash is something I am going to try. He definately prefers his mealies to anything else which makes me rather think he takes after his mum in loving the things he can;t have too much of LOL!! Mince I think is his next favourite with roast beef, roast lamb and chicken following closely behind.
I am making a cottage/shepherds pie on Thursday so I will try him with a little of that too. I am going to try him with some peas tonight, he can have them with his mince. Yes, he likes mealies as an appetiser, he has a few when I first get him out of bed at night and a few more when he has had his playtime and then his night-time food and biccies is obviously given before I go to bed.
Thank you for sharing your kind posts ladies and I will let you know how I get on when I try him with different things. Thank you for sharing with me.
Love and hugs

Tried gregory on some butternut squash last night and it's all gone this morning, not a fussy eater at all. Next is egg to try I think!

Thank you for your kind replies. I put 5 peas in Lewie's home last night with a little ripe fresh pair and the only thing eaten this morning was the meat and 20 bicsuits. I think he is going to be a hedgie who won't eat his fruit and greens LOL!!

Colin goes bananas for live mealies and washed savoy cabbage. He also has a taste for house spiders, which is a shame because I quite prefer to retain their skills about the place.

Ha ha Kit, I love the bit about the spiders!!
I am afraid that mealies are Lewie's absolute favourite too, he prefers them to chicken or lamb. He only has a few mealies each night now but his meat is always gone in the morning with about half his biccies. So far he will not look at fruit or veg and I have tried him with quite a selection. Oh well, if he doesn;t like them that's fair enough but I would like to try him with the things he can eat.
Thank you for your interest and reply love.

Re: What are your hoggie's favourites?
My lil Hugo loves green beans and would pass up a meallie for some. He also loves chicken and goes wild for scrambled egg. The only thing that he has left is banana which suprised me. He devoured live crickets
Havent tried on butternut squash but I think i will this week.

Thank you Chelli for your kind reply. I am going to try Lewie with a little banana this week, but like your little chap, nothing compares to a mealie for him. I did try him with scrambled egg when he was smaller and he ignored it but I will try again sometime.
