how many bugs?
hello.
i was wondering if anyone could tell me how many mealworms and hoppers it is best to feed my little girl.
i feed her live ones and then she has her cat biscuits as well but dont know if i have it right.
at the moment its 1 or2 hoppers and 4 mealworms a day [i love to see her hunt them down in her
playpen] so its tempting to give her more but dont want her getting fat. thanks for any advice

Re: how many bugs?
Depends on how much exercise your hog does. I can give Bodhi about 20 mealworms (well, free-feed really), and 2-5 roaches (depending on size - she will stop catching and eating them when she's had enough), and she kept the same stable weight.
I did go on holiday for two weeks, and she managed to gain over 20g in that time, so she's on slightly less mealies until I see it dropping, but the roaches will stay the same as they are far less fatty than mealworms. Locusts/crickets are also better fat-wise than mealworms.
In short, it depends on how energetic your hog is. Keep an eye on their weight, and adjust accordingly. Some people give a lot less than I do, and their hogs struggle with weight.
