Advice on weight please
Hi everyone,
Just a bit worried about my hoggie herb. I weigh him every sunday and have just weighed him and he is 225g, is that normal for a hog that is almost 14 weeks??
I'm just worried because he has lost 10g since last week! and lost 3 grams the week before!! Previous to that he was gaining weight well. I at first thought it could be because of the introduction of his wheel? So is -13g normal seen as he is exercising a lot more now??
He has kibble available at all times and I use a mixture of reccomended biscuits. I also give him mealies, was a bit strict at first but since he lost a bit of weight 2 weeks ago I have given them to him more freely!
I often give him mince and chicken etc, I've tried a few vegetables but he's not too keen. He seems to eat quite a lot of biscuits every night and his kong is half empty every morn. He also is drinking well.
Just thought I'd check what every one thought, Thanks!! xx

That sounds fine to me, a few grams shouldn't be anything to worry about. He's eating well and drinking well so I'd just keep monitoring him. I'd wait to get more answers on here, and perhaps a visit to the vet if you're still worried.

Are you using live/dried mealworms?
And how often is 'often' in relation to fresh? I give fresh every day, but I know some people only give it a couple of times a week. I figure I wouldn't want to live on space food most of the time, and Bodhi scoffs all the mince (although she too is not a big fruit/veg fan), so I figure it is a good thing - especially for hogs that are able to self regulate, or are losing weight.
Might also want to visit the vet if this doesn't work. Could be something more serious under-lying it.

Dried mealies at the mo. Ive read quite a few posts now and realise its nothing to worry about too much as some hoggies fluctuate in weight a lot and its prob coz he's exercising every night on his wheel (and when we get him out). Will keep an eye on him tho. Thanks guys!!

I wouldn't be giving more than 3-4 dried mealworms per day. It is live that you can free-feed.
