Hunger strike - please help

Well at the moment Trio hates me and I am ending up wearing most of the food he is being syringe fed. He squirms and pushes it away then just looks straight up at me like 'why are you doing this to me?' it is breaking my heart. I feel so guilty and sorry for him and hate to see him losing his trust in our bond. I am trying to help but feel so cruel. I dont know which of us is finding this harder, am sat here in tears about putting him through this just so I can feel I have tried everything I can for him. I think that the stress of being syringe fed is sending him downhill too, he seems suddenly much more miserable and is in hiding. I am almost tempted to take him to the vet tomorrow and let him go now and not put him through any more but I suppose I will have to persevere for the next few days

We all understand love, I have done many a thing which my pets do not like to make them better and I know how upsetting it can be. If only we could tell them.

He has been syringe fed about 0.3mls twice a day, slightly less than what the vet said but just being able to get anything down is an achievement at the moment. He seems to be brighter today and i found some proper poo for the first time in weeks, soft but not liquidy and black rather than green. Am so pleased to see that, even if he won't recover then at least he is obviously taking something good from the critical care food and he can't be blocked up inside. It's given me a little boost to keep going with the syringe feeding xx

I phoned the vet first thing this morning, he wanted to keep trying to build trio up with the syringe feeding and as his faeces is now a normal colour and good consistency then its a case of seeing if he will start eating by himself sometime soon. Will give him another week or so, keep your fingers crossed for him x

I keep my fingers crossed, reading this is so upsetting and my heart goes out to you.

He has just been out for a mini wander and poo on his wheel, second time I have seen him on the wheel this morning, looking a bit wobbly and her only goes around it a couple of times but at least he is making the effort. He is in and out of his bed to drink too. Am just psyching myself up for the impending syringe feeding battle. Sounds pathetic but I dread it as much as he does and I have to build myself up to it!

I know exdactly what you mean Zoe love, when you know one of your babies hates something being done, we do indeed feel it more than they do. When mine have injections I always say if I could, I would have them instead.

He was running around quite a lot this morning and we had some cuddles and he fell asleep in my hands. Just fed him but he has cottoned on to how to spit the whole lot back out which isn't good. Am nearly 9 months pregnant and he has curled up and is asleep on top of the bump now. Doesn't look v comfy to me as baby keeps wriggling right underneath him and wobbling him, he doesn't seem to want to move tho!
