tiny pimple? on mouth
I've tried to get a photo, but Ody won't keep still, so will try again later, but he has what looks like a tiny pimple on his mouth, just near the mouth opening on his left side. I'm not sure if it's an ingrown hair or whisker maybe, and not sure what to do. It doesn't look like it's bleeding or pussing, but worried if it is something serious that I won't be able to get a vet at the weekend. Not really sure what to do.
He also had a hopper yesterday, and I wondered if maybe, since he played with it a bit before eating, could it maybe have got a little bite in or something.
Keeping fingers crossed it will just settle down again and he'll be fine, and will try and get a picture later when he gets up. Was searching through the posts to find a picture of an ingrown hair follicle to see if I could compare, but had no luck yet, so thought I'd post and ask about it instead.

Does it look a bit like a wart? It's just Sonic has what looks like a wart with hairs growing out of it on his jaw, and I'm not really sure what that is.
The hopper could of given your hoggie a little nip, as long as its not bleeding or anything, it should be ok until, if you feel you need to, take it to the vets to make sure everythings ok.
Sorry I couldn't really help much
Joely and Sonic xx

Re: tiny pimple? on mouth
Ahh, thanks for your reply. To be honest, yeah, it could be the same. It looks a light pink, and haven't noticed it before. Doesn't seem to be pussing or bleeding. I didn't want to wait and see and if it gets worse end up panicking at the weekend, unable to see a vet, but also don;'t want to stress him out dragging him to a vet if it's something that will just settle.
It's on the upper jaw, but on the skin on the outside, so where his lips would be almost, but a little higher maybe. If that makes any sense. Just waiting for him to get up again so I can take a pic if possible.
Thanks for your reply though, any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Re: tiny pimple? on mouth
Thanks hun. Was just worried that if I left it and it got worse the vets wouldn't be open to take him at the weekend, but hopefully it was just something that'll go down, and tomorrow he'll be fine. If it wasn't for this weekend being xmas I'd just leave it and keep an eye on him anyway, but will see how he is tomorrow and hopefully it'll just be a little pimple of some kind. lol

@Moopy83
My baby hog also seems to have a mole sprouting hairs under her chin at first I was a little worried but it doesn't seem to irritate her.. spose they get them too
Isn't that odd?!?
Fionac it probably isn't anything to worry about too much - the pimple should go down eventually. I suppose you can just keep an eye on little one until then - hope it goes down soon

Thanks hun. Yeah, Ody and Emo both have the little lump under the chin thing. I did panic about that originally with Ody, and finally discovered it was absolutely natural. Phew!
After the last 45 minutes of effort, I finally got some pics, sort of. I now have one peeed off hoggie, but sort of pics.

bottom pic is probably the best to show it, it's just above his top lip nearer to his nose, sort of looks a peachy colour on this. Like a little pimple.

Honestly Fiona I wouldn't have even noticed it I wouldn't worry too much unless it was bothering him. The vet in Runcorn is open everyday including Christmas so if ever anything did happen you could go there but it looks fine x

Re: tiny pimple? on mouth
Looks like he's scratched it overnight and burst whatever it was. It looks a little like it bled, so just going to keep an eye on it. Is there anything I could put on it to stop it getting infected? I doubt it, as there's nothing I could think of, and he won't stay still enough for me to wash it, so just have to keep an eye on him I supose.

You are a little worrier aren't you
I have never needed to use this for a small wound but lots of people say sucocream because it's hypo allergenic.
little dab on a cotton wool bud should do the trick?
Hope all goes well

Haha, yeah, I really am. But more so when there's a chance the vet won't be open, but at least there could be one. I don't drive though. So I'd probably have to get a cab if I needed to go. Yet another reason why I hate xmas! Haha, bah humnbug!
would usually use sudocrem, but with it being so near his mouth I'm worried he'll just lick it off. Hoping it'll go down now. I don't like finding lumps of any size and not knowing what they could be to be honest, I always worry having read so many awful things happening to people's hogs and not wanting to miss anything that might need treatment. But yes, I really am terrible for worrying over stuff!
lol

Re: tiny pimple? on mouth
just thought I'd update that over xmas Ody's first one went down after it had burst. Then a few days later, he had another further up his nose. Seems to be ok at the moment though, and they seem to have cleared, but thought i'd post if anyone else has the same problem and is worried by it, in the future.
