cant help too much but any change in food should be made gradually and slowly

Some hoglets don't eat anything like mealies as they are young, so they don't think they need anything else to eat as they are getting all the nutrition they need. Thats what I was told big smile

If your hog is hungry, then it should eat, how long have you had it? It might be feeling a bit confused etc as its been moved to a different enviroment and a different owner.

Good Luck! x

Not entirely sure Bodhi has more than a single biscuit a night (at some point I'll start counting them). She gets a good palmful in her bowl, and never runs out, so I'm not terribly concerned. In addition to that, she gets her fresh bowl (mince - which always goes - fruit and veg - which doesn't - , or insect-eater diet - which goes - , or very occasionally wet cat food - which goes or doesn't depending on which type it is - ), and mealworms.

Some hogs don't grow up with live food, so keep on trying with the mealworms - eventually they get the general idea. I know the breeder I got Bodhi from says that her hogs eat mealworms before biscuits even! Bodhi is a live-food hog though, she adores her roaches, mealworms don't touch the side, and she inhales crickets and locusts. Only things she doesn't like are grub-like bugs, waxworms, butterworms, calci-worms. No idea why! Oh, and adult male roaches because of their wings.

I'd suggest offering freshly cooked mince - that usually tempts most hogs, and you'll be able to see if your hog is just not eating, or whether they are just not used to the new food. It is true, however, that food changes should be done slowly. The rough guide is a month. Week one is 75% old food, 25% new. Week two is 50% of each. Week three is 25% old, 75% new. And week four is entirely new food. Gives them a chance to change over naturally, as well as avoiding upset tummies which is an issue in hogs.
