I give up. Help with dry cat food pleaaseee.
Reading all the topics on this has well and truely melted my brain :(
So far what ive gathered is go cat and whiskas whilst is perfect 30 10 wise.. is rubbish
which is fair enough because i only use a box of each in my mix so not too much
Then someone said iams is rubbish too and pasted a HUGE list, this is where my brain started to melt because we are now at three parts of my mix being no use hahaha
I tried to read everything and a few other topics but its a lot of "dont use this" and noone saying what they actually use daily
Can someone please tell me as simple as possible what there mix is and how many boxes/bags are used?
Me and my hoggies thank you in advance

This thread might be useful to you http://www.pygmyhogsuk.com/t14110-what-cat-food-brand-do-you-use
I remember when I was trying to figure out which food to use, it was confusing and I wasn't sure which food was the best. The thread above and also another thread which lists cat food and their protein/fat percentages was really useful and I was able to use that and pick out some food to use in my own mix.

Right so i think i might change most my food mix
Im going to take the whiskas and iams out
but keep the go cat for smell and the pets at home own brand
so is this mix okay?
go cat indoor chicken
pets and home chicken light
purina one chicken light (ive had this in my mix before and no one ate any but il try it again)
royal canin fit 32

Re: I give up. Help with dry cat food pleaaseee.
Whats a good brand for weight gain? ive changed to pets at home, royal cannin and go cat indoor but after a week i noticed slight weight loss (most of mine are runners so its never ideal, appart from jack ive left some of the mix for him as hes a messy lazy hog so weight loss is needed for him haha)! so ive ran out and braved the new year havock and got some whiskas, purina one and new life to add back in in a hope they get back the weight they lost, they are eating the same amount and this week have had cooked chicken twice, meal worms, apple and carrot so must be to do with the different dry mix :(

I know how confusing it can be and I still have not found perfect mix either. Every hedgehog is different, my Brambles loves the purina one chicken, and picks it out of her bowl, leaving the rest in it
I see that you have the purina on echicken light and the pets at home chicken light. Perhaps try and get one as normal chicken not chicken light.

Pets at home advanced neutrician and joe & Jill's goes down well in my house
Don't worry you will soon be stood in pets at home getting eyed up by the staff when you have been stood there looking at every label.....
What I try and do it stick to 10-15% fat 30+% protine and a high meat content with meat being the 1st ingredient, then add about 1 part go cat indoor to add some bulk and help prevent smells.
If you get one hills do some low fat ones 8% which I use with my fatty or to use with food with a high % fat content.
On advise I changed fully to go cat indoor but noticed weight loss, so swiched back as it just didn't work for me. For weigh gain I found royal canin person 32 was good (and all I could get one hog to eat at the time) but only to be used short term as its very high in fat. If your hog is dangerously underweight then speak to your vet, my womble required build up & I was prescribed science plan ad to aid recovery.

Aww, they are 3 very cute prickly balls. Reminds me a bit of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate looking at the colours.
