Re: insurance?
I believe some on this forum are using this insurance. I do not have insurance for my Brambles, but are looking into it as well if it would be worth it or not, or if it is better just to put £5.00 aside every week for her.

Re: insurance?
I found one that I didn't think was bad, until I read the fine print. It does not cover injuries or illnesses, only death by theft or fire.

Re: insurance?
Alot of insurances are like this. My mum got stung when our dog had hip dysplaxia. They didnt cover the cost of his operation and it cost well over £3000 for a new hip. Always make sure you know what is covered by the price. Most are not inclusive of all illnesses and some have time limits for the same problem. They will only pay for a year for treatment of the same problem.
I would say it is better to put money away into a seperate account and have a credit card incase they have to have any really expensive treatment/operations.

I find most animal insurance policies are diabolical and completely unsuitable for what the owner neads - 'peace of mind'.
I would recommend having an account which you put away a certain amount every week in case of emergencies rather than these ridiculous animal insurance policies which tbh is typically the same as just putting your money through a shredder. But thats my opinion

I would agree that pet insurance rarely pays. I used to work at a vet clinic when I was in the states and most everyone reported nothing but headaches and hassles when dealing with them. Having to wait for reimbursement checks was always the biggest complaint.. if they were going to reimburse anything at all. A popular alternative was to have a discount plan which gave the savings right up front. One was called Pet Assure and it was very popular where I was. If there's anything like it in the UK you might want to check it out. The website should be somewhere in google if you type in their name.

Re: insurance?
I can say I used exotic direct and found them very professional when I had to claim. Probably broke even over the time we had the policy to what was claimed. Their policy is max £2,000 for vet bills in one year, for approx £165 a year. Bear in mind blood tests and X-rays for general diagnostics came in over £300. Quote to have an oral tumour removed was over £500. Now I use a vet in London so might be a bit more expensive..but even so. Btw I'm not in any way connected to any insurance company
