losing quills
hello dont know if i am just a worry guts but my little girl is 7 months old, happy and seems healthy but is losing a dozen or more quills each night when she is out for her cuddles and run around. is this normal...i know they shed them a bit like our hair but i never noticed so many until a short while ago.
she has also had 2 nights where instead of her usual mad running round our front room then climbing on me for cuddles she just wanted cuddles [not that i mind that] just its unusual.
any advice will be gratefully recieved. thanks

Re: losing quills
I haven't got loads of experience, but it could be quilling.
As Redswife said, have a check if they have got little balls on the root of them, if so as far as I know thats a sign that the quill has come out naturally, as opposed to being due to mites.
When Rocky was quilling he also just wanted to sit still and not really do much, I suppose if it hurts and they just feel a bit fed up and grumpy its similar to me or you feeling poorly - just want to curl up and sit still until we feel better.

Re: losing quills
My Gregory has been losing quills also for the last week or so, several each night, today when I cleaned him out I found at least 10. No scratching and he is as mardy as ever and quills all have balls on them. He is 9months old now so was unsure whether it could be quilling also. Our little one is still quilling and gets a little grumpy but Gregory is soft as ever.
