Worm with meal worms that is NOT allowed to be fed to hedgehogs.
Hi guys!
I bought some meal worms in Pets at Home today. I know P@H isnt the best place to buy them, but I try to feed them for a few days before I give them to my hedgehog, that way they are full of vegies rather than grains. Anyways, While I was in the shop, I noticed there was another kind of worm in with the morios. It was a lot smaller and was grey, (almost tiny white spots) and had tiny hairs on it. I forget what the sales woman said they were called, but she said that I definitely shouldnt feed my hedgehogs those worms because they eat skin. I took the worm straight out of the packet. I wanted to let you all know, that if you see a strange worm in with your morios, please dont feed them to your hogs.
P.S sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but wanted to let you know.
xx

Is it not just one thats 'going through the change' and morphing into a beetle?
I thought you weren't supposed to use morio worms?

dont know about the strange worm but i feed morios to my little girl all the time.
think it was said about the fact morios bite and shoudnt be fed to lizards ect
as the swallow them whole and can get bitten inside. however with a hedgehog
they dont stand a chance ! crunched up in a second
i find them easier to keep than mealies so thats why i feed them

I get those little fuzzy wormy things in with the mealworms in most of the tubs I get, I've never fed them to the hogs, but remember reading somewhere that it was ok....
Are they there to clean up? eating dead skin, as Iss said, etc would make that sound right! I think they are harmless tho...

You can - generally recommended that you don't feed them live (cutting off their heads first being common), or leave them in the cage with the hog like you can with mealworms.
