Applaws question
I've been doing some headache inducing reading about different cat food brands, I was going to use Applaws in the mix as I know it's a good brand but when I looked at the ingredients list on the zooplus website I saw it contained salmon oil and was confused! Is it ok as it's a small amount or should it be avoided?
Ingredients:
dried chicken, dried potato, fresh chicken, poultry oil, poultry sauce, beet mash, dried whole egg, dried yeast, salmon oil, cranberry extract, yucca extract, citrus extract, rosemary oil extract

Assuming you're talking about this one: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/canned_cat_food_pouches/applaws/136604
Main ingredients are fine, but I'd avoid it due to the salmon oil and citrus extract. That said, the protein is really really high, and the fat is over budget as well. You should be aiming for ~30-35% protein, and 10-15% fat across your mix. That one has a whopping 47% protein, and a 20% fat!!
Shoot me a PM with your email address, and I can send you my spreadsheet - makes finding foods easy as it is sort-able, unlike the list on here. I just use it to sort by protein and fat, then look at the first five ingredients by hand.

I'm in no rush really as I think I'll be hogletless for a few months yet!

Re: Applaws question
Hello, please may you send me that list, I'd be ever so grateful! Hazel is on a mixture of stuff at the minute but she only seems to be picking out the cheapy biscuits that don't have proper meat in them (but they do have exactly 30% protein and 10% fat) and she gets fresh meat most nights (chicken, mince beef, diced lamb etc). Unfortunately, I can't pm yet either but my email is danielle_lc@live.co.uk.
Thanks in anticipation xx

Got your email - might want to edit your post and take it off the public forums to avoid spambots snagging it

Re: Applaws question
I used to feed Applause and it is high in protien and fat. Ok ad a mix. I found my 6 don't really eat it. So I stopped using it. Their favourite is Royal Cannin Fit 32.
