Zoozone heat mats?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get a heggie quite soon, however my flat does get quite cold as the heating isn’t great so I'll probably need to use a heat mat. I was just wondering if it was possible to use a heat mat in a Zoozone enclosure, where would the cable to the plug get out? Would placing the heat mat under the cage be suitable or would it have to be inside with a fleece cover

I'm in a flat with the same problem, and found an easier solution was just to stick the ZooZone in front of a radiator. But I'm sure somebody will be along soon with heat mat advice soon

You can but use it under the zoozone, and make sure the it only covers 1/2 of the areas eg sleeping area so that your hedgie can get away from the heat if it wants to, hope this helps Jonesy

great thats ok then, just we have those horrible electric heaters and my heating bill would be huge lols. Just wasnt sure if the heat would get through the bottom of the cage but if it can thats great thanks

You would need a thermostat on the heatmat to avoid it getting too hot. Ive tested a tiny heatmat and it got to 120f without a stat on!

If they can get that hot would they not melt the bottom of zoozone? How much heat actually gets through from the bottom of the cage?
Biscuitbum which microwaveable one do you use and how long does it stay warm for? Would it last the night?

We used Snugglesafe ones from Pets@home for our kittens - they come with a cover too....

We use one of those snuggle safes too, only on really cold nights. Also really good for when you take them out
