I therefore find it easier to just make his food especially for him. I batch cook potato, veg and beef mince - all in the same pan - boiled. I mash it together when cooked and then put it in ice cube trays to freeze. I get a cube out when I need one - defrosted and warmed before feeding Very Happy The last batch gave me enough to last about 2 months big smile

Hi just came across this as I have just got my qst hedgie so was double checking how to cook the mince, and thought this was a great idea! Do you defrost the cubes over a few hours or heat them up in the microwave to defrost? Thanks!

When we have spag bol we do the same. However Lewie has lots of little meals in the freezer ready to be taken out and cooked. Chicken breast, steak and mince - Paul jokes he eats better than we do.

Beef mince is Rockys absolute favourite thing ever!! I've now saved a few hog sized lumps of mince wrapped individually in the freezer in little parcels. So I can just get one out to defrost and cook for him on treat night cool

It seems to be a favourite of all of them dear, Lewie just loves it. When it comes to Lamb, chicken or steak, he will nibble at it but there isn't the gusto and enthusiasm that there is with mince LOL"!!

I cook a batch of mince and veg then freeze them in an ice cube tray and defrost in the microwave when needed. Saves cooking individual portions every other night.

I cook the whole lot, put them in lock'n'locks (smallest ones I could find, 3 of them at a time, each about half full (otherwise it goes off before you use it all)). One in the fridge, two in the freezer. We don't eat meat much (OH has haggis once a week, and steak when we're out, and thats about it), and never eat mince (even quorn - the texture of mince makes me squirm!), so picking it out of food isn't possible. Works for us Smile

My little monkey will only eat mince. Last night I put some lovely chicken breast in for him and he didn;t touch it, the mince however was gone. Is there some sort of supplement they can be given if they will only eat one thing please?
