is this stuff suitable for domestic hogs?

Post  fingermoel on August 4th 2009, 2:29 am

i came across this stuff on ebay is it suitable for our domestic hogs.

it is obviously formulated for wild hedgehogs to i was wondering if was to high in fat and energy for our little dudes.

dried cat food is not supposed to be ideal so maybe this may be a good suppliment at least.

i have tried this and actually use it on my tenrecs and short tailed opposums , but i will let you know for sure i will never use it again on hogs for one very good reason , it makes there poo smell like trodden in dog poo , it really is bad for smells , i have never experianced anything like it before. i also had a hard time tracking down the fat content ect. but i do suspect it to be too high for captive hogs .

ok i will stick with the james wellbeloved and iams then,
its readily available etc.
i will just have to make sure he gets plenty of fresh meet as well.

i may buy some for the local wild hogs thogh they are having a tough time these days.
thats if the foxes dont get it first.
we have more and more foxes every year and they are keeping me awake with infernal screaming.

i have read that hogs need chitin in there diet and this only comes from beatles and locust, crickets etc any truth to this?

I am not a big fan of anything that squirms but that purly psycological so i can get round it with a bit cognative remodeling.
however my girlfreind is less than happy about having crickets and locust in the house.
dried mealworms for the birds and bats (we have a huge colony of pipistral bats in our roof and i like to give them mealies)

anyway i will need to serious revision as regards to hog nutrition i want to be as healthy as possable and as comfertable as poss,
